Breathe in the Rockies from our hilltop hideaway, perched above downtown Estes Park and minutes to the National Park (STR #3272). The owners searched for this dream home their whole lives, but before they retire here, they invite you to enjoy its charm. The mountain views will cause your jaw to drop, and the location allows you to explore breweries, bars, shopping and restaurants by foot.

Features

  • 3 br, 1.5 bath
  • Pets allowed
  • Deck overlooking Lumpy Ridge
  • Walk to downtown
  • Sun room & 1-story floor plan

The owners chose to retire in this home because of the views — they couldn’t find anything better in all of Estes Park. Enjoy the one-story living on top of a quiet hillside overlooking downtown, with the giant rock formations of Lumpy Ridge (part of Rocky Mountain National Park) looming in the distance and the sounds of Fall River wafting up from just below the lot.

Guests have spent so many mornings enjoying the view from the deck, sipping coffee as the butterflies fly by and deer and elk munch on grass in the fields below. There are very few homes in downtown Estes Park with these views, so even if your family needs a day off from hiking and other adventures, you can still enjoy the Rockies from the comfort of the Mountain House.

Incredibly, if you set off on foot from the front door, you’ll find yourself exploring the best Estes has to offer in just a few minutes. Our favorite breweries, wineries, restaurants and shops are so close but they seem so far. Send your kids to a nearby adventure park, or take the whole family up the Aerial Tramway (all within a few blocks). Note that the walk home can be steep — but as past guests have said, it makes a tasty dessert guilt-free.

You’re invited to visit our beautiful blue abode — “The Mountain House” in Estes Park. You will love its spacious, open floor plan, perfect location, gorgeous views, cleanliness, and proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park. It’s perfectly appointed with comfy furnishings, a fully stocked kitchen, and countless amenities so you can feel at home during your mountain getaway in Estes Park.

The owners have recently upgraded and modernized the home, and they’re proud of the energy invested into creating a peaceful, serene and relaxing place for a mountain retreat. Some of the latest updates include all new stainless appliances, super comfortable new linens, and a ton of small kitchen appliances so you can cook whatever you can dream up. They’ve also invested in an enormous puzzle, game and toy closet to entertain the kids!

Our favorite feature of the home is the deck and its associated views. Despite being above downtown, you will almost certainly see elk, deer and other wildlife from the top of the ridge it sits on. A BBQ and great table on the deck complete the package. The sounds of Fall River make it so much more enjoyable during the spring when the snow melt starts and the water level rises.

BEDROOMS

The home offers 3 bedrooms, with sleeping for a maximum of 8 people (per town regulations).

Bedroom 1 – A massive and comfortable king sized bed located at the far end of the home away from the family room. Quiet and private.

Bedroom 2 – A queen bedroom adjacent to the family room, with a sliding door opening directly onto our porch. When we visit alone, we choose this bedroom and watch the morning sun light up the Rockies.

Bedroom 3 – The kids room has 2 bunk beds with four single beds, bringing our total sleeping capacity to 8.

LIVING & ENTERTAINMENT

Living & Sun Rooms – The living area has it all: treehouse feel due to the giant windows, the great views to Lumpy Ridge, a wood burning fire place (bring your own firewood), a big smart TV loaded with streaming apps, fast Wi-Fi, a book shelf with a ton of material, and a massive game closet. The attached sun porch heats up and is a favorite place for winter mornings when the snow is falling.

COOKING

Kitchen – The kitchen is fully stocked. It features an oven, a fridge/freezer, a microwave, various small appliances, cutlery, dishes, utensils, bowls/pots/pans and virtually anything else you may need or want.

A FEW REVIEWS

We were very pleased with this property. We stayed here two weeks and the house had everything we could ask for. Very comfortable bed, extremely accommodating for our dog, and an outstanding deck with excellent views of the Lumpy Ridge range. The kitchen was well supplied, the washer and dryer came in real handy and there was even a fenced in area where our dog could go relieve himself when he needed.

Jim

It was without a doubt the cleanest rental I have ever been to. Everything in the house was incredibly clean – kitchen, bathrooms, kitchen utensils and dinnerware, bedrooms and bedding. When they say “Pet Friendly” they really mean it!
Kristin

We had such a good time at this property. It was comfortable and homey and the perfect location. The best part was that it somehow FELT like it was a secluded mountain cabin with a great view of the mountains and the town below. It had everything we needed and is obviously well managed. We will definitely stay there again the next time we visit Estes Park.
Ashley

The location is a perfect walk to town. There is a nice little hill to walk up, but that just means desert is guilt free. :). Although it’s right in town, mule deer were in the yard every morning or afternoon. The windows are big and the view of town looking down at night and the twin owls looking out in the daytime is stunning.

NOTE BEFORE BOOKING

Neighborhood

The home sits in a residential neighborhood on a hillside above downtown Estes Park, with the National Park just a few minutes away by car. It is not out in the woods, but it’s private and has terrific views.

Fires

Estes Park is a very dry area, and the property has about an acre of land. Making campfires on the property is strictly and completley prohibited.

Air Conditioner

Estes has a mild mountain climate in the summers but from time to time it can get hot. Like nearly every other home in town, there’s no A/C. The cool mountain breeze cools the home off quickly in the evenings.

Wildlife

There is wildlife all over town, so do not leave food in your car because bears will break in. Also, note that elk can be dangerous — don’t get close!
