This home is perfectly situated only a few hundred yards from the boundary of Rocky Mountain National Park. You can watch the sun rise over the mountains from bed, eat breakfast while elk and deer mill about, hike into RMNP from the front door, and come home and watch the stars over the high peaks from the deck. You will love this cabin’s warmth, cleanliness and authentic mountain feel.
It’s perfectly appointed with new, comfy furnishings as well as countless amenities so you can feel at home during your mountain getaway in Estes Park.
The owner spent two months recently giving it a complete facelift to create a quiet, relaxing sanctuary for your mountain retreat. Improvements include: fresh paint, new furnishings, new carpeting, new lighting, new beds, a huge smart TV and super fast WiFi.
You will enjoy 3 bedrooms each with its own private bath, a living room with games, puzzles and a smart 55″ TV, a dining room with seating for 8, an antique wood burning stove that will take you back in time, and an outdoor rec pavillion with a ping pong table.
The favorite feature is the huge wraparound deck, offering a straight view of Longs Peak. There’s a ton of seating out there, so you can relax, read, watch wildlife roaming around, stare at the mountains and stars, and just chill out and enjoy the peace and quiet. Some of the home’s old sofas are now on the deck so you can laze about. When the Milky Way rises, you’ll see more stars than most people ever have in their lives. The deck has two outdoor dining tables for breakfasts, lunches and dinners, and they are great card, game and puzzle tables. You’ll often feel like you’re in a zoo; because the national park boundary is literally two properties away, herds of deer and elk are constantly roaming around.
The home offers 3 bedrooms, each with an attached private bathroom, plus sleeping for two more on sofa beds in the living room. Two bedrooms are on the home’s second floor, each offering a unique view of the Rockies, and a third bedroom is on the first floor ajdacent to the living room.
If it’s cold or windy, come on into the spacious and cozy living room, which has a huge window offering the same views as you’d get from the deck. There’s a small library with books you can read or take with you (if you take one, please leave one behind), as well as dozens of puzzles and games for when you want to detach from technology.
The dining room will become one of the central gathering points for your friends and family. It features a brand new birch table, seating for 8 on benches and stools, log cabin wood trim on the walls, and an antique wood burning fireplace for chilly winter nights. All combined, the mix of pine, acacia and birch wood gives you a very natural feel, and the cozy wood fireplace completes the scene. A massive door swings open onto the deck from here too.
The kitchen is a chef’s dream! It features two ovens, a full sized fridge/freezer, a microwave, dishwasher, a large island, lots of small appliances, cutlery, dishes, utensils, bowls/pots/pans and virtually anything else you may need or want. The island also features three bar stools so people can hang out and socialize.
Last, one of the most fun parts of the house is a giant recreation pavillion with a great view, open walls, Christmas lights dangling from the ceiling, and a ping pong table! This is the greatest post hike activity, aside from simply relaxing on the porch.
The home does feature a washer and dryer.
A FEW REVIEWS
If I could stay in this place again throughout every season of the year in Estes Park, I would most definitely! The classic cabin vibes with modern touches were really appealing. The space was very clean, comfortable and secluded so you could really enjoy some quiet time up here.
NOTE BEFORE BOOKING
Neighborhood
The neighborhood is a few minutes drive from downtown Estes Park, with the National Park boundary just a few homes away. It is private but not totally isolated — there are other homes that you can see in the photos.
Fires
Estes Park is a very dry area, and the property has about an acre of land. Making campfires on the property is strictly and completley prohibited.
Wildlife
As noted, the National Park boundary is just a few homes away. There is a lot of wildlife here. Do not leave food in your car because bears will break in.
